Susan Doyle

Assistant Professor
Illustration, RISD

After a decade as an art director and designer, Susan Doyle,  turned her artistic focus to easel painting. Returning to RISD to earn a dual MFA in painting and printmaking in 1998, Ms. Doyle is in her 19th year teaching. Her own lifelong curiosity and circuitous educational path have made her a committed advocate of interdisciplinary study.  Her first foray into Arts in Healthcare, is a 2011 wintersession studio course in which students from cross-disciplinary art and design majors are redesigning the visual environment of the Hasbro Children’s  Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.  The course included first-hand experience the activities of PICU as research into how the visual environment impacts patient, family and a healthcare givers.  Students will be implementing the design work as an ongoing venture throughout  the spring 2011 semester
